We are currently working on layouts in S4 gauge, OO universal and N, while the larger scales (up to gauge 1) are catered for by mainly exterior running tracks. A portable 0 gauge exhibition layout is being designed even as you read this. On top of all that we have continuous test tracks in four gauges, perfect for those who just want to watch the trains go by. Between them, the layouts represent more than 100 years of railway history, and offer members the chance to practise many different skills and techniques. The club has a number of experienced members who are always ready to air their knowledge of both modelling and research. A library of over 250 books is supplemented by books and research material in individual members collections. We also possess thousands of articles culled from 50 years worth of publications, which are being indexed on a computerised database. The range of interests is wide, and this is reflected in the content of Semaphore, the club magazine to be published in. A copy of the on-line version can be downloaded from the main page on this site. We exhibit far and wide, most recently in Utrecht, Holland. Extra operators are always appreciated, and it certainly beats paying to go in. And above all, we make a great cuppa!

Visitors are always welcome at our clubroom. Please introduce yourself if you see us at an exhibition, or contact the Honorary Secretary for more details.

based in Washford, Somerset

South Hants MRC

The normal club night is Thursday from about 8pm although the clubrooms, where we have exclusive use of two large rooms, are available for members to use at other times. The club is very friendly and we like to feel it is easy for new members to quickly "feel at home". There is the chance to contribute to any project (or projects if you wish) and the opportunity to learn (or to teach!) and to exchange ideas with other members. Club meetings usually end with a visit to a local pub for those who are that way inclined - generally most of us!

We feel our club is something special. We don't expect all our members to be expert modellers (although some certainly are) but we constantly strive to improve our own standards and try to encourage everyone to "have a go".

If you think our club would suit you, why not come up and see us one Thursday evening. We are always quite happy to entertain guests and prospective members.

However, you don't have to be interested in participating in model railway layout construction in order to join: the Circle actively promotes interest in all aspects of railways and associated commercial transport. We welcome members who are not railway modellers, but who enjoy being in the company of like-minded enthusiasts. If you'd like to join us, we have an application form ready for you.
