DP5X Decoder

Last updated 5 November, 2006

The DP5X decoder (formerly called the TH150DP) is designed as a direct Plug N' Play to fit many different HO and OO scale locomotives (see list of known incompatible locos). There is no wire harness and no soldering is required. Installation is very easy. Plug the decoder directly into the locomotive DCC socket. DP5X is a five function, full featured decoder not a stripped down decoder. It is ideal for locos such as the Heljan Hymek and Class 47 diesels.

There is insufficient space between the NMRA socket and the interior of the roof to plug in a DP5X.
Use M1-UK, MC2-UK or T1P decoder, which have NMRA plugs fitted
Hornby
Class 50 Diesel
The underside of the PCB comes into contact with components on the main board in the loco and will cause a short circuit. If the extension plug is used, as supplied with the decoder, this raises the DP5X too high and it is not possible to refit the body.
Use M1-UK, MC2-UK or T1P decoder, which have NMRA plugs fitted
