HORNBY STRENGTHENS PRODUCT RANGE WITH
£7.5M ACQUISITION OF CORGI
Hornby Plc ("Hornby"), the international models and collectibles group, has today (1st May 2008) announced that it has acquired the famous die-cast model business Corgi Classics (“Corgi”). Hornby has agreed to buy the brand, tooling, and intellectual property rights from NASDAQ quoted Corgi International Limited, for cash consideration of £7.5 million. Fixed assets at completion had a book value of c.£1.4 million. The balance of the consideration relates to Goodwill, Trade marks and Intellectual Property. In addition, existing inventory will be acquired for a consideration of c.£0.8 million, subject to a post-closing valuation. The cash consideration will be funded from Hornby’s banking facilities.
Trackside 4 piece sets – 2008 1st half range
The two sets UT1004 and NW1004 feature in the Trackside range of the January - June 2008 catalogue. As a result of customer feedback, Corgi have decided to release these as single items rather than 4 piece sets due to the regionality that each model relates to. If you have already pre-ordered these models as a set you need do nothing as we will honour your existing order. Please watch our store for details of the individual model availability.
Product recall - De Havilland Vampire (AA37303)
Due to an error within research on the De Havilland Vampire (model no. AA37303) the model has been manufactured to an incorrect specification. Therefore, due to the significant errors, this model has been withdrawn from sale and Corgi will be recalling all models.
Corgi’s Customer Services Department will be calling all Retailers/Wholesalers to arrange collection of this incorrect model over the next couple of days.

We have reluctantly decided that we will not be stocking the 2007 Corgi Classic range of models (Hauliers of Renown, Truckfest and Rigids). We will, however, still stock the Corgi Original Omnibus and Trackside ranges. We will also stock the new Roadscene range. You will also find that we will maintain information on Corgi releases for 2007 below and on the release dates page.
